Embark on exceptional 3-day Triglav National Park hiking adventure in Slovenia. You’ll experience the most beautiful trails in Slovenia’s biggest national park & the kingdom of Zlatorog – gold-horned chamois, scenic drive to the highest-lying road, enjoy one of the most panoramic hiking adventure in Julian Alps, hike the tallest mountain in western Julian Alps and the largest of Slovenia’s Alpine lakes.
- Day 1: You’ll walk the most beautiful trail in Slovenia – Soča trail. From the hut in Zadnja Trenta you’ll hike 20 min uphill, on a path secured with ropes, to a little emerald lake in the cave – the Soča spring. You’ll return the same way, leaving Mt Mojstrovka, Mt Jalovec and Mt Travnik behind and head for the forest path through glacial Trenta valley, where Alpe Adria Trail – Vršič to Bovec section connects to Soča trail. Easy downhill walk takes you along the Soča river, past Mlinarica gorge and Julijana botanical gardens, to little and 750 m long Great Soča gorges in Lepena valley. From here, to the border of Triglav National Park – Soča gorges at Kršovec, you’ll frequently cross the river over foot bridges. Once out of Triglav Park, you’ll connect to Bovec trail, leading by the Soča and Koritnica river confluence. Short uphill walk leads onto Path of Peace, over Raveljnik open space museum to Bovec town. Distances: 25 km, 7-8 h.
- Day 2: On the second day in Triglav National Park, hiking adventures take you to the largest lake in Slovenian mountains – magical Krn lakes (1391m). Wide and easy uphill trail begins in dispersed Lepena valley settlement, at Dr. Klementa Juga mountain lodge (700m). From here you’ll hike through virgin forests to Dupelj lake and Krn lakes mountain hut (1385m). Onward you’ll pass abandoned shepherds huts on Dupelj mountain pastures and shortly after find yourself infront of gorgeous Mt Krn (2244m) reflection in the Krn mountain lake. Further on frizzy sheep will accompany you on the walk to mountain pasture Na Polju, nestled under the mountains with rocky summits – Mt Vrh nad Peski (2176m), Mt Batognica (2165m) and Mt Velika Baba (2013m). Distances: 691 vm, 5 h.
- Day 3: You’ll climb the 3rd highest mountain in Slovenia and the highest in western part of Slovenian Julian Alps – Mt Mangart (2679 m). Adventure with over 2200 vm of scenic drive and hike begins early in the morning through Koritnica valley. Just before Predel pass you’ll turn to the most beautiful Alpine road – Mangart road. The highest road in Slovenia takes you to Mangart pass (2,072 m), on border between Slovenia and Italy, where your hiking adventure begins and majestic Mangart peak is at hand. You’ll follow the easiest path to mount Mangart summit – Italian route. Initial short part of the trail is secured with ropes, which come handy but not essential for the climb. Onward this hiking trail leads on top of 3 km long Mangart North wall, where the views open to alluring Fusine lakes in Friuli – Venezia Giuglia region and Austrian Carinthia mountains. From here on short steep sections are followed by flat parts to ascend the Mangrt mountain top. You’ll descend the same way and drive pass Mangart mountain hut, where we recommend to have delicious local stew for lunch, served at the most stunning place in Soča valley. Distances: 600 vm, 5 h.
