The best vacation for me is always a complete relax in nature, so my holiday destination is Soča valley. There is no stress with accommodation, you eat good local food and have fun with my wife and son while being active in Bovec. In short I want to lay back and enjoy active quality time with my family on Soča river tubing adventure.

A nice and friendly professional, who loves children, is our river tubing guide on white water kayak. Janez picks us up at the hotel at Boka waterfall, from where we can see the tallest Slovenian mountain Triglav (2864m), and drives straight to he banks of Soča river. There we get preordered equipment in sizes that fits us well. While we are changing Janez takes care of everything. He unloads the tubes, takes photos of us with Svinjak mountain, helps with clothing.  Janez gets himself ready while organizing things in a smooth way and answering all our 5 year old’s questions about how to catch the marble trout fish.

Light tubes and short beach walk makes carrying the tubing gear easy. Our family adventure starts where Polovnik mountain ridge falls into emerald Soča river. Safety and how to maneuver tubes instructions and demonstrations are put in a children friendly way and easy to pay attention all through the end.
I am a bit worried about the little guy not to float all the way to the Adriatic sea, but the guide has us all under control. Thus I enjoy a lovely conversation with my wife, while we are astonished by the Kanin mountain scenery. Every now and then Janez brings us back from this romantic Soča valley getaway showing directions we need to follow paddling.

Guide entertains our child and takes perfect care for him as he flips on purpose. Nik loves to swim in the river, jump off the tube and climb back. He paddle splashes all over as fast as little squirrels in Slovenian forests. Luckily tubes are really hard to flip, so we bounce off a few boulder rocks turning. We miss the way sometimes and get stuck in the shallows at Učja river tributary. It’s a fun interruption for my wife from being Soča rocked to sleep.

We stop in an emerald lagoon where Sušec canyon creek flows in, to close encounter the trout fish. We connect the tubes to make a »family sofa«, observe the river bed and fish through the hole in the middle.
A smooth float continues with a nice wave chain below the corner of the Upper and Lower Soča valley. We hold on to straps for a few hundred meters, till we pass Žaga village. Once in calm waters again we lay back and relax.
Apart from a few kayaking beginners, we are privileged to have the river section under Stol mountain to ourselves. Soča river tubing feels like being deep in nature, surrounded by mixed forest and murmuring river.

Approaching the village Srpenica, we hear a lively summer rafting put in spot. We all regret our joyful Soča river tubing experience ends here, wishing to have taken a rafting and tubing package. A return transfer is an amazing display of beautiful landscape and domestic animals. I honestly think green Slovenia is the best all in one tourist destination in the world.
